Our village, Laborel, is situated in a non-intensive agricultural area, which has mainly lavender and lavandin fields. This type of culture does not need any treatment during the flowering, therefore there is no risk of chemical contamination for the bees or the honey.

It is very simple to make the difference between lavender honey and lavandin honey: the colour.

Lavender honey has a nice gold colour, while the lavandin honey is more light-yellow. When it will crystallise, it will even tend towards off-white, while the lavender honey will remain yellow.

And yet, they are both sold as “Lavender honey”, because the “Controlled term of origin” (A.O.C. in French) does not exist yet.
